Why is it important to have your say?

Proposals for new developments have the potential to impact nearby residents, businesses and communities. For this reason, the planning process seeks to give those who could be affected an opportunity to have their say. Anyone is entitled to comment on a planning application and when a planning application is received, all immediate neighbours must be consulted or a site notice put up.

Such submissions are tailored to your needs and can be used to highlight areas of concern. Where appropriate, they can also be used to indicate support for proposals, or to identify pragmatic steps to resolve issues such as by suggesting conditions that should be attached to the granting of any planning permission.

In addition to preparing written submissions, we can provide additional support by engaging with planning officers and council members on your behalf. We can make appearances at council meetings and committees in order to ensure that your views are clearly expressed and understood by decision makers.
